Advanced Directive Policy
Comprehensive Pain Management Center will accept a patients advanced directive and file it in their medical records. We will flag the patients medical record to state we have an advanced directive on file.
Comprehensive Pain Management Center respects the right of patients to make informed decisions regarding their care. The Center has adopted the position that an ambulatory surgery center setting is not the most appropriate setting for end of life decisions. Therefore, it is the policy of this surgery center, if there is deterioration in the patient’s condition during treatment at the surgery center, the personnel at the center will initiate resuscitative or other stabilizing measures. The patient will be transferred to an acute care hospital, where further treatment decisions will be made. If the center has an advance directive on file with will send it with the transport team to the hospital along with their medical records.
If you would like more information regarding the advanced directive you can ask one of our staff members during your visit or you can get information from the the Maryland Attorney General's office.
